The hCaptcha app within CF7 Apps helps protect your Contact Form 7 forms from spam and bot submissions. It’s easy to set up and acts as an additional security layer, ensuring only genuine entries are submitted through your forms

When you first access the CF7 Apps dashboard, you’ll see that all available apps are disabled by default. You can enable them individually based on your requirements.

How to Enable hCaptcha

  1. Go to CF7 Apps >All Apps > Spam Protection > hCaptcha.
  1. Once enabled, click on the settings panel for hCaptcha will appear.
  2. You’ll need to provide the following details:
    • Site Key
    • Secret Key
    • To generate your Site Key and Secret Key, click here.
  3. Additional optional settings include:
    • Invalid Captcha Error Message: Message displayed when an invalid CAPTCHA response is detected.
    • Language: Select the language in which the captcha should appear. The default is English.
  4. Click Save Settings to apply your configuration.

You can enable hCaptcha either directly from the Settings Panel or through the App Card on the CF7 Apps dashboard.

How to Display hCaptcha on Contact Form 7

  1. Open your desired form in Contact Form 7 or navigate to Contact > Add Contact Form.
  2. You’ll see a new hCaptcha tag available in the form tag.
  1. Click on the hCaptcha tag to open the configuration modal. It includes:
    • Field Type: Select hCaptcha from the dropdown. This defines the type of CAPTCHA being added to your form.
    • Field Name: A default field name (e.g., cf7apps_hcaptcha-27) will be generated automatically. You can customize this name as per your preference. It’s used for internal reference and should be unique within the form.
    • Size: Choose between Normal or Compact, depending on how much space you want the captcha to take.
    • Theme: Select between Light or Dark themes to match your form’s design.
    • Custom CSS: Optionally, you can apply your own CSS to style the captcha element further.
    • Once you’ve configured the settings, click Insert Tag. Place the generated tag wherever you’d like it to appear in the form. preferred just above the Submit button.
